What the hell is “Marging”?
And why is a grown woman, well past the comic book stage of her life, drawing cartoons and posting them on a blog?
Life is always unfolding as a cartoon in my head and “Marging” is my way of getting it on paper. I blame childhood summers of excessive comic book consumption for warping my outlook and influencing my drawing. (Notice that all my characters are some version of Archie, Veronica, Betty or Reggie!)
Over the years, my cartooning found its way into everything from Birthday to Bon Voyage cards for friends and family. Branching out to strips and stories is a long held line item on my bucket list. I hope you find them amusing, insightful or a worthy time killer while waiting for a friend or procrastinating on doing your taxes.
My characters are real, fictional and hybrids. Bob, in particular, had to be fabricated because the real “Bob” is in a witness protection program due to an unfortunate misunderstanding with the TSA. My aim is to make their everyday adventures ones that resonate with you.
Lastly, my name is Marge and the observing, ranting, celebrating, criticizing, analyzing and speculating in my drawings are the -ings.
You definitely inherited the Baker funny gene! Very impressed, indeed! Go get ’em, cuz!!!
I really enjoy your ‘strips’, Marge. I can completely identify with the haircut toon.
Love this Marge. You have a great sense of humor which I too share in my writing and I loved the Archie’s too! 🙂
Just love your space, Marge.
All the best to you…from a fellow Chicagoan.
With blessings,
Dani
This is a wonderful blog. I have just recently been drawing in the comic style and your stories are so inspiring! Chicago is a place I have always wanted to visit, so your tales are the next best thing. Thanks Marge, and I look forward to following along on your “Margings”!
